Some more EC questions

sorry i ve gone very busy so i cudnt continue i will give u some last yr questions of EC.

SUGGESTION: For interview only basics can save you. if u are not able to answer a standard question you will be forgiven, but if you miss a fundamental question only god can save you.

  1. formula of DFT
  2. Sampling thm.
  3. peroidicity of DFT.
  4. Y(w) = exp(jw), interpret it.
  5. how does FFT reduces computational complexity.
  6. convolution formula nd does it apply to all kind of system, if not write convolution formula for LTV system (Answer  is in oppenhiem & wilsky).
  7. Define LTV system, give examples
  8. spectrum of white noise.
  9. two systems were given, cascaded, transfer func in z domain, find net impulse response.
  10. Relation between i/p & o/p PSD.
  11. Nyquist rate in practical systems.
  12. draw voltage divider bias, why its called so, how u will increase bandwidth in dis ckt.
  13. range of visible light(frequency)
  14. waveform of bsk.
  15. a bit stream was given, draw qpsk
  16. how will u find B.W of a signal.
  17. Define probability. (dnt give formula of probability i.e fav. otcome divided by total, there are three definitions of probabilty, find in any standard book)
  18. Define Random variable.
  19. what are stochastic process.
  20. graph & laplace ofsome basic signals.
  21. What is need of VLSI.
i ve written it in haste if u r coming to roorkee
then
brush up ur basics in semiconductor physics from streetman & banerjee
Analog basics (gain , operating pt. op amps, biasing)
Digital basics, special focus on RC ckts.

if i will get time i will arrange some more questions from other syudents.

Best wishes

FUTURE COURSE

First of all, we will provide the questions from various IITs, then we will provide the cut offs.
Due to lack of communication factor we will be able to provide questions for only EC(Electronics and Telecommunication)  branch.
We will go in following order,
  1. IIT Kanpur
  2. IIT Bombay
  3. IIT Kharagpur
  4. IIT Delhi
  5. IIT Guwahati
This is to remind readers that IITM and IITR hadn't conducted interview for EC.

IIT Kanpur

Tips for IITK

  1. Kanpur interviews are highly mathematical, they generally ask derivations for everything, so be prepared for it.
  2. They generally ask questions from basics mathematics, if you fail in this, it gives a bad impression.
  3. People interested in VLSI, prepare OP-AMP vary well it is mostly asked question in every IIT.
  4. Try to reach there before 8 p.m, hostels are far away from IIT gate, late night you won't get transport medium to hostels (This is not a warning, just a suggestion).
  5. Enjoy the scenery, this IIT is full of peacocks.
  6. Kanpur calls for only one specific branch, so we are providing questions branch wise.
VLSI & Display Technologies. (Above 200(gen) gate rank were not called for this branch)

  1. Draw the Band diagram of PN diode, show its variations with various applied biases.
  2. Draw the plot of  x+1/x+sinx.
  3. There is always some capacitance between I/P and O/P stage of any ckt. How will you segregate it in terms of I/P and O/P capacitance? Derive the method used.  (Ans: Miller's theorem).
  4. Draw the pi model of transistor.
  5. Find the value of 'K' and 'm' in y(x) = K(x^m), the value of y was given for various x. plot the function for various values of K and m.
  6. Draw the op-amp in inverting config. and write the gain expression. Describe the current flow in this with and without load.
  7. Plot I/O characteristics of CMOS inverter.  Describe Noise Margin in it.
  8. Can we change an n type semiconductor into p type with same conc. as n type, if yes how, explain?
  9. What is condition for oscillation in Hartley and Colpitts oscillators.
  10. How does I/O characteristic of PN junction diode shift with increase in temperature and why?

About us

We are M.tech I yr (Microelectronics and VLSI) students of IIT Roorkee. We are starting this blog in order to share our interview experiences in various IITs. We know, as the result of GATE will be out, you guys will start looking for interview procedure, questions and cut-offs of various IITs, as we have also done that.

We are also sure that you will get disappointed  in this pursuit as there is no first hand credible information available on the net in this regard. So we decided to share our experience with you, to enlighten your way to IITs.

We will be providing:
  • IIT, BARC & IISc interview questions and procedures direct from the students who have faced it.
  • Cut-off of IIT Roorkee and if possible of other IITs
  • Interview Questions and Procedure of various PSUs( BHEL, NTPC, ISRO, BEL)
As we have to cope up with our huge course work in parallel with this so you have to have some patience, we will try to finish this before Gate result would be out.
